"COMMUNISM"-IMPERIALISM-GENOCIDE
“COMMUNISM” - IMPERIALISM - GENOCIDE
The “communism” ideology has probably been around for a very long time. However, it was only taken seriously by some at the time of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. The basic idea was that a different social order could right all the wrongs in the real world. Great appeal to “intellectuals” and the exploited working classes. A world without corrupted rulers/elites?? -What a fairy tale!
So what happened in the “Russian Empire” or “Prison of Nations”? The so called “Russian Revolution” was actually a revolution by the non Russians. Lenin knew that his vehicle to power was support for the non Russian minorities. Lenin promised independence for the captive nations. The White Russians wished to preserve the Russian Empire. Lenin and the Bolsheviks won for this reason. Many captive nationalities separated from the Russian Empire after the first World War. The Soviet Union then signed eternal Peace Treaties etc. with the new independent states. These were all broken later.
The remaining Russian Empire, or the Soviet Union, as it called itself for a while, became much more “Russian” by the loss of the captive nations. Many non Russians had achieved positions of power in the military and bureaucracy. First Commander of the Red Army was the Latvian Jukums Vācietis.
Lenin dies and Stalin grabs power. Great Russian Chauvinism and Imperial ambitions were still very strong in Bolshevik Russia. Stalin used this, and Terror, as his power base. Russians resented non-russians in high positions. They also wanted to restore the Russian Empire to its former borders and even further. The Great Terror of 1937 was about extermination of any opposition to these goals. Most victims were non Russians in high positions, including Jukums Vācietis, who was rewarded with a bullet.
Russian conquest of Ukraine had to be made permanent by extermination of the Ukrainian national element, cultural element etc. Once a people has been destroyed, they are no longer capable of claiming their territory. That was Stalins goal. Ukrainians were starved to death. “Communism” became a cover for these genocidal actions. It was never about “kulaks”, “saboteurs”, “enemies of the people”. Moscows “communists” claimed their goal was “world communism”, peace and eternal justice for all peoples. They vehemently opposed imperialism and fascism elsewhere in the world, while signing the Soviet-Nazi non-aggression pact, including its secret protocol.
The Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact provided Moscow Imperialists the opportunity to expand the Russian Empire. Attacks on Finland and Poland followed. The Baltic States were occupied. Formula was the same in all occupied territories: Decapitate the national “head” by murder, deportation or slave labour in far away, out of sight concentration camps. Then flood the occupied territories with ethnic Russians or ethnics from other occupied territories. This was Stalins “permanent solution” to the territorial conquests.
The vast majority of victims in the occupied territories were nationals, even when there existed a sizable Russian minority. 42,125 men, women and children were deported from Soviet occupied Latvia during 25-30 of March, 1949. Of the deported, 95.4% were Latvians, although 30% of the population was Russian at that time. The Gulag was filled with millions of non Russians.
Genocide continued until the Soviet Union collapsed by economic and social bankruptcy. Soviet propaganda was very effective, and millions of useful idiots (there is no other way to describe them) in the West and developing countries believed the propaganda, even when irrefutable evidence as to he truth was presented. Pierre Elliot Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, visited Norilsk in the Soviet Arctic, and stated this city should be an example to Canada. He should have known better.
It was never about “Communism”. It was about genocidal Russian Imperialism. Hitler wanted to create a German Empire and Stalin wanted a Russian Empire. The Truth is out there, and it is starting to see daylight. “Communism” served as a cover for Imperialism.
In the meantime, Czar Putler’s continued aggression in the Baltic States proves that Moscow’s genocidal Imperialism is alive and thriving.

Tribute to Liberty
Dear Friends and Supporters of Tribute to Liberty and the Memorial to Victims of Totalitarian Communism,
Tribute to Liberty received some excellent news today. We are now a registered charity and can issue tax receipts for donations to the Memorial to Victims of Totalitarian Communism – Canada, a Land of Refuge to be built in Ottawa. Please see the attached press release.
We know many of you have been waiting to donate until we had charitable status. Now that we are able to issue tax receipts we hope you will donate to this important cause. We have a wonderful campaign, The Pathway to Liberty, where you can tell a story of a victim of Communism or make a dedication with your donation: http://www.tributetoliberty.ca/campaign.html
We really need your donations now to continue with the process of building the memorial. We will be holding a national design competition; however, before we can launch the competition we need to have a significant amount of funding in place. This is a requirement of the National Capital Commission (NCC). We work with the NCC and must meet its policy guidelines for building a memorial on federal land. If you are planning to donate to this project please do so as soon as possible. If you would like any information on the project please do not hesitate to contact myself or Carolyn. A donation form is attached for your convenience, and you can also donate online via paypal: http://www.tributetoliberty.ca/contribute.html

National Capital Commission Approves Name for Ottawa Monument: "To Victims of Totalitarian Communism"
"We would like to thank the NCC for working with us to develop a title for the monument that does indeed focus on the victims of communism." says Alide Forstmanis, Tribute to Liberty Board Chair. "We are happy that this part of the process is now behind us, and we will now be focusing our energies on the next stages - finding a site and proceeding with the design competition, and fundraising for all of that."
Charles Coffey, Honorary Chair of the initiative, commented on the process of working out the wording for the title of the monument: "Probably the board members at the NCC, like so many Canadians, are simply unaware of the scope and scale of communism. This monument will help to change that."
Tribute to Liberty will now embark on a fundraising campaign. Details of the campaign will be released in the next several days.
The National Capital Commission is the government agency that oversees the use and development of national capital region land. The memorial to the victims of totalitarian communism is a project of Tribute to Liberty working with founding partner The Open Book Group.

Banished: "The Forsaken" Review By RICHARD PIPES | July 30, 2008

This a very sad book, the story of thousands of Americans who, during the Depression, lured by sham Soviet propaganda and pro-Soviet falsehoods spread by the likes of George Bernard Shaw and the corrupt New York Times Moscow correspondent, Walter Duranty, migrated to the USSR in search of jobs and a role in the "building of socialism." [....................... ] In Tim Tzouliadis's "The Forsaken" (Penguin Press, 436 pages, $29.95), their dismal story is told with great skill and indignation usually missing from Western accounts of communist Russia.
Tribute to Liberty - Press Release
Canadian Communities Unite to Remember Victims of Crimes of Communism
TORONTO, September 26, 2008-Representatives from Canada's ethno-cultural communities have created a non-profit organization, Tribute to Liberty, to establish a memorial in Ottawa to the Victims of the Crimes of Communism.
“Because of this project Canadians will have an opportunity to learn about the Crimes of Communism, and how they have affected the lives of so many Canadians. Public awareness is very low in terms of the huge number of Canadians who have suffered under Communism in the countries they came from, and this memorial will change that,” says Philip Leong, Tribute to Liberty Board Chair.
“Ambassadors and their delegates from 14 countries have written to the Prime Minister calling for the creation of a memorial,” says Leong. “We hope to build on that broad international endorsement with comparable support from Canadians coast to coast to coast.”
Proponents of the project are engaging with representatives from a range of communities in Canada including Afghan, Armenian, Chinese, Cuban, Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mennonite, Polish, Russian, Slovakian, Tibetan, Ukrainian and Vietnamese, among others.
The members of the Tribute to Liberty Board of Directors are Philip Leong, Chair; Alide Forstmanis, Treasurer; Reet Marten-Sehr, Secretary; Alexandra Chyczij; and Wladyslaw Lizon.

Prague Declaration on European Conscience and Communism
Member of the European Parliament (EPP- ED) and
Martin Mejstřík, Senator, Parliament of the Czech Republic (indep.)
PRAGUE DECLARATION on European Conscience and Communism
Prague, June 9, 2008
On Friday June 6, Senator Martin Mejstřík and Jana Hybášková, Member of the European Parliament, presented the English and Czech versions of the Prague Declaration adopted by the international conference „European Conscience and Communism" held on June 2-3, 2008 in the Senate, Parliament of the Czech Republic. The conference was hosted by the Committee on Education, Science, Culture, Human Rights and Petitions of the Senate, under the auspices of Mr Alexandr Vondra, Deputy Prime Minister of the Czech Republic for European Affairs.
The Conference received letters of support from President Nicolas Sarkozy of France, from Lady Margaret Thatcher, from Jason Kenney, Canadian Secretary of State and from Zbigniew Brzezinski, national security advisor to former US- President Jimmy Carter (enclosed).
In its preamble, the Prague declaration states the urgent need to come to terms with the communist ideology and with past and present communist regimes on a European and international scale. It stipulates i.a. that the Communist ideology is directly responsible for crimes against humanity, that there are substantial similarities between Nazism and Communism, that many perpetrators of Communist crimes have not been brought to justice yet, that many Communist parties have not apologized for Communist crimes and that millions of victims of Communism are entitled to the same recognition enjoyed by the victims of Nazism. It also stresses that one fifth of mankind still suffers under hard living conditions imposed by different Communist dictatorships.
The Prague Declaration, which is addressed to all nations of Europe, all European political institutions including national governments, parliaments, the European Parliament, the European Commission, the Council of Europe and other relevant international bodies, formulates nineteen demands.
Ranking among the most important are:
- a call for the acceptance of pan-European responsibility for crimes committed by Communism,
- a call for a legislative recognition of Communist crimes as crimes against humanity, on national level and on a European level
- a call for the establishment of 23rd August, the day of signing of the Hitler-Stalin Pact, known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, as a day of remembrance of the victims of both Nazi and Communist totalitarian regimes, in the same way Europe remembers the victims of the Holocaust on January 27th,
- a call for an effective public debate about the commercial and political misuse of Communist symbols,
- a call for continuation of the European Commission hearings regarding victims of totalitarian regimes,
- a call for organising of an international conference on the crimes committed by totalitarian Communist regimes with the participation of representatives of governments and other key stakeholders
- a call for the establishment of an Institute of European Memory and Conscience a pan-European museum/memorial of victims of all totalitarian regimes,
- a call for an overhaul of European history textbooks so that children can learn about Communism and its crimes in the same way as about the Nazi crimes
- a call for a joint commemoration of next year's 20th anniversaries of the fall of the Berlin Wall and the massacre in Tiananmen Square,
The PRAGUE DECLARATION was signed by:
Václav Havel, Joachim Gauck, Lee Edwards, Vytautas Landsbergis, Göran Lindblad, Tunne Kelam, Christopher Beazley, Emanuelis Zingeris, Ivonka Survilla, Tseten Samdup Chhoekyapa, Jana Hybášková, Jiří Liška, Martin Mejstřík, Jaromír Štětina, Pavel Žáček, Eduard Stehlík and others.
Gorbachev calls for purge museum
Mr Gorbachev said the special museum should be set up inside what was one of the most notorious Soviet detention centres, the Butyrka prison in Moscow.
The petition's organisers, Memorial, said Russians today were in danger of forgetting the brutality of the past.
They also criticised the glorification of former leader Josef Stalin by some.
In 1937, Stalin launched his Great Purge, intensifying his campaign against anyone he saw as a threat to his regime. Those included political opponents, but also the army, the intelligentsia, members of the clergy and peasants.
